Apple has an advantage that it checks each app for security risks. But if you download from a trusted source you should be ok. Apple keeps 30 % of the profit for selling paid apps that they sell and this is the only place that you can sell your apps.  Apple is not the only maker of the apps but it is the only place allowed to sell them. The Apple maps looks unfinished and buggy and feels like there in beta with locations wrong. The sprint and Verizon models cannot use voice and data at the same time.
